TMP Providers.JPG
We offer training for The Listening Program, The Movement Program and bespoke INSET and CPD training for schools and organisations.

At Learning Solutions, we have been offering professional training courses around sensory processing, auditory processing and improving learning outcomes for children since 1996.

Our Trainer, Alan Heath, is a regular speaker at Education Conferences in the UK and internationally, and has trained many thousands of professionals across the UK, Europe, Middle East and USA. If you are a Teacher, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, SEN Consultant or involved in working with children with learning and sensory challenges, our training courses will offer you an important understanding of how to develop the skills of those you are working with.

Take a look at the wide range of courses for you and your team. Learning Solutions works alongside LEA's, Education Business Partnerships and organisations such as NASEN, the National Association for Special Educational Needs and the Times Educational Supplement to deliver quality, relevant and practical training courses.

We are also happy to offer specific presentations for parents in areas such as autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and other developmental and sensory areas.

Here are some of the wide range of INSET options on offer:

Pre-phonic Skills

Pre-phonic skills are vital for all children in order to actually hear the different sounds in both their first and subsequent languages. Many children with listening and learning challenges find the processing of these phonemes difficult.

This course will explain the skills required in order to develop phonemic awareness and discuss possibilities for developing these skills. The presentation will include an explanation of The Listening Program which can be implemented into schools to help the progression of these fundamental skills.

  • Understand why some children have difficulty differentiating phonemes

  • Learn practical strategies to develop the underpinning skills of phonics

  • Includes a free set of rhythm sticks and booklet of games for everyone

Fully compliant with the Letters & Sounds programme this course will leave you with a deeper understanding of the development of these skills and many practical strategies for improving the underlying skills for phonics.

A one day course or series of twilights suitable for all teachers in Foundation, KS1 and KS2.

Auditory Processing - The difference between hearing and listening

Do you have children in your classes who find it difficult to listen? This course explains why a growing number of children find it difficult to listen, learn, comprehend and remember information. It also covers the links between listening, language, coordination and movement. Good auditory processing skills form the basis of speaking, listening and literacy.

  • Understand the fundamentals of good listening.

  • Learn how to identify children with listening difficulties rather than children who choose not to listen.

  • Help your children develop good listening skills.

  • Identify how to use music in the classroom to aid listening, learning and task completion.

The benefits of using certain types of music are scientifically proven to aid learning, reduce cortisol levels and stress, slow heart rate and brain wave patterns to assist concentration, relaxation and many other areas. This facilitates an ideal learning state.

A one day course or series of twilights, suitable for Early Years, Primary and Secondary age

Sensory processing and learning difficulties

Learning through the main senses of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic is the basis of sound academic progress. Many children with a range of labels such as ASD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and others have challenges with attention and the processing of the range of sensory information available in the environment.

  • Understand more about how vision, hearing, balance and co-ordination are linked

  • The latest research on sensory integration

  • Discover how to develop good sensory processing in your students to help them to access multi-sensory learning using simple techniques

This course considers what developmentally needs to be in place for good multi-sensory learning to occur. This is particularly vital for children with a range of learning and developmental delays.

Suitable for SENCO's, all support staff working with children with learning difficulties and Special Schools. The course is available as a one day course or series of twilights.

Communicating success!

How we communicate with ourselves and others is the key to our beliefs and abilities.

Using work from Neuro Linguistics (NLP) this seminar looks at:-

  • Developing problem solving, thinking skills and creativity

  • How your brain processes information

  • Enhancing our communication both with ourselves and others

  • How to praise appropriately to maintain motivation

  • Ensuring positive outcomes

You will leave this course with a deeper understanding of how your own words subtly affect the children you work with and practical strategies to develop your communication skills.

This one day course is suitable for all staff working with children of all ages.
