Private Consultancy

Many children struggle to attain the basic literacy and numeracy skills required to fully access the school curriculum. Difficulties with reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, memory etc are, of course, only the symptoms of a deeper problem. At Learning Solutions we offer personal consultations in which we assess children in terms of their physio-logical and neurological capabilities for learning. When assessment measures are used which look at areas such as visual processing, auditory processing and balance and co-ordination, then it often becomes clear in what areas children are having difficulty.

In his personal consultations, Alan not only performs all the neuro-logical and physiological tests mentioned, but also takes children through a listening test. This differs from a hearing test in that it checks what children do with what they hear.

A personal consultation of this kind takes between 1 and 1½ hours and a written report will be produced about the child in question. This will indentify areas of concern and make recommendations for appropriate remedial work, much of which can be done at home in a few minutes each day.

School Consultancy

Learning Solutions can offer a consultancy service direct to your school.

It will include ...

• Individual assessments of children identified as requiring assistance, ie children on the Special Needs register.
• The development, if appropriate, along with SENCO of an individual programme designed to enhance performance in those areas of need identified in the assessment
• Practical small group sessions for pupils with special needs or one-to-one sessions, if appropriate.
